Petitgrain bigarade chưng cất từ lá và cành non Citrus x aurantium (cây cam đắng). Tên 'petitgrain' có nghĩa 'hạt nhỏ' trong tiếng Pháp, trước đây tinh dầu được chưng cất từ quả non chưa chín; sau này chuyển sang lá vì hiệu quả hơn.
Sản xuất chính Paraguay (lớn nhất), Pháp, Tunisia, Maroc.

Petitgrain bigarade is distilled from the leaves and young twigs of Citrus x aurantium (bitter orange). The name 'petitgrain' means 'small grain' in French, historically the oil was distilled from unripe fruit; later production shifted to leaves for greater efficiency.
Main production: Paraguay (largest), France, Tunisia, Morocco.
The same tree yields bitter orange (peel), neroli (flowers), and petitgrain bigarade (leaves).

Trong perfumery, petitgrain là note giữa (heart note) quan trọng, mùi citrus, hoa, xanh, gỗ nhẹ. Không phototoxic, khác biệt với citrus peel oils.
Trong Eau-de-Cologne truyền thống, petitgrain cùng bergamot, neroli, và lavender tạo nên cấu trúc cổ điển 4711.
