(E)-Geranyl acetate là ester acetate của geraniol, xuất hiện rộng rãi trong tinh dầu hoa và thảo mộc.
Trên da. Patch test ở 4 phần trăm trên 25 tình nguyện viên không gây mẫn cảm. Hai ca viêm da tiếp xúc patch test ở 1 phần trăm cho phản ứng nhẹ.
Đường uống. LD50 cấp tính trên chuột 6.33 g/kg.
Mạn tính. Cho chuột ăn 10.000 ppm trong 17 tuần không gây tác động đáng kể.
Đột biến gen và ung thư. Không gây đột biến trong thử nghiệm Ames. Trong nghiên cứu hai năm trên chuột và chuột nhắt, geranyl acetate cấp thực phẩm (71 phần trăm geranyl acetate, 29 phần trăm citronellyl acetate) không được coi là gây ung thư.
(E)-Geranyl acetate is the acetate ester of geraniol, widely occurring in floral and herbaceous essential oils.
Skin. A 4 percent patch test on 25 volunteers produced no sensitization. Two cases of contact dermatitis patch-tested at 1 percent showed mild positive responses.
Oral. Acute oral LD50 in rats is 6.33 g/kg.
Subchronic. Rats fed 10,000 ppm in the diet for 17 weeks showed no observable effects.
Mutagenicity and cancer. Not mutagenic in the Ames test. In a two-year study in rats and mice, food-grade geranyl acetate (71 percent geranyl acetate, 29 percent citronellyl acetate) was not considered carcinogenic.
