Ferula galbaniflua là cây thảo nhiều năm vùng Trung Đông, đặc biệt Iran, Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ, Afghanistan. Nhựa được thu thập bằng cách cắt thân cây.
Tinh dầu cất hơi từ nhựa. Sản xuất chủ yếu tại Iran và Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ. Cũng có thể từ Ferula rubicaulis.
Họ Apiaceae. Cùng chi với asafoetida và ferula (F. jaeschkeana), nhưng chemistry khác hẳn, galbanum là pinene-rich (terpene đơn giản), asafoetida là sulfur-rich.
Galbanum được dùng trong perfumery Hy Lạp cổ và Cựu Ước (thành phần của incense Đền thờ Do Thái). Mùi green, sharp, characteristic.
Ferula galbaniflua is a perennial herb of the Middle East, particularly Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan. The resin is collected by cutting the stems.
The oil is steam-distilled from the resin. Mainly produced in Iran and Turkey. May also come from Ferula rubicaulis.
Family Apiaceae. Same genus as asafoetida and ferula (F. jaeschkeana), but markedly different chemistry, galbanum is pinene-rich (simple terpenes), asafoetida is sulfur-rich.
Galbanum was used in classical Greek perfumery and the Old Testament (a component of the Jewish Temple incense). Green, sharp, characteristic aroma.
