Có GRAS status. Không kích ứng hay nhạy ứng ở liều thử nghiệm 10 phần trăm. Không phototoxic.
Nồng độ tối đa trên da 17.5 phần trăm, dựa trên 30.3 phần trăm geraniol và ngưỡng dermal 5.3 phần trăm.
Mouse local lymph node assay: geranium oil là chất gây nhạy ứng rất yếu.
Theoretical drug interaction. Low risk of skin sensitization.
Oral: caution with diabetes medication (geranium oil lowers blood glucose in rat studies), drugs metabolized by CYP2B6.
GRAS status. No irritation or sensitization at 10 percent test level. Non-phototoxic.
Maximum dermal use level 17.5 percent, based on 30.3 percent geraniol and a dermal limit of 5.3 percent.

Pelargonium × asperum là lai giữa P. capitatum và P. radens, đây là loài được dùng cho phần lớn tinh dầu thương mại. Phổ biến trong literature aromatherapy ghi P. graveolens, nhưng thực ra P. graveolens (chứa 30 đến 83 phần trăm isomenthone) không phải nguồn thương mại chính.
Sản xuất lớn tại Trung Quốc, Ai Cập, Morocco, Crimea, Ukraine, Georgia, Ấn Độ, Madagascar, Nam Phi.
Tên 'rose geranium' ban đầu dành cho geranium oil từ Réunion (cultivar Bourbon), nay sản lượng Bourbon rất nhỏ và không bán trên thị trường mở. 'Rose geranium' nay là tên thương mại từ nhiều nguồn khác.
