Có thể ức chế đông máu — (E)-anethole ức chế kết tập tiểu cầu.
Một ca co giật ở trẻ sơ sinh 12 ngày tuổi đã được ghi nhận sau khi cha mẹ cho dùng nhiều liều anise oil điều trị đau bụng colic. Trẻ hồi phục sau khi nhập viện.
Chống chỉ định mọi đường dùng: mang thai, cho con bú, lạc nội mạc tử cung, ung thư phụ thuộc estrogen, trẻ em dưới 5 tuổi.

Pimpinella anisum là cây thân thảo nhỏ thuộc họ Apiaceae, gốc Địa Trung Hải.
Hạt anise là gia vị phổ biến cho rượu (ouzo, sambuca, pastis), bánh kẹo, thuốc cổ truyền. Tinh dầu chưng cất từ hạt khô.
Sản xuất chính tại Tây Ban Nha, Trung Quốc, Ai Cập, Nga, Mexico, Chile.
