Có thể chứa estragole và methyleugenol. Có khả năng ức chế đông máu vì eugenol cao.
Nhạy ứng da và niêm mạc rủi ro thấp đến trung bình.
Đường uống: tránh khi dùng pethidine, MAOI, SSRI, thuốc chống đông. Tránh trước phẫu thuật lớn, loét dạ dày tá tràng, máu khó đông, huyết áp thấp.
Liều uống tối đa người lớn 159 mg mỗi ngày. Nồng độ tối đa trên da 0.9 phần trăm, dựa trên 56.2 phần trăm eugenol và ngưỡng dermal 0.5 phần trăm.
Methyleugenol có mặt 0.4 phần trăm, một chất gây ung thư cần giới hạn nghiêm ngặt.
May contain estragole and methyleugenol. May inhibit blood clotting due to high eugenol.
Low to moderate risk of skin and mucous membrane sensitization.
Oral: avoid with pethidine, MAOIs, SSRIs, anticoagulants. Avoid before major surgery, peptic ulcer, hemophilia, low blood pressure.
Maximum adult oral dose 159 mg daily. Maximum dermal use level 0.9 percent, based on 56.2 percent eugenol and a dermal limit of 0.5 percent.
Methyleugenol present at 0.4 percent, a carcinogen requiring strict limits.

Chemotype eugenol của Ocimum gratissimum, sản xuất gần như độc quyền tại Ấn Độ. Một dòng lai chứa 85 – 90 phần trăm eugenol gọi là clocimum oil được phát triển bởi Regional Research Laboratory tại Jammu.
Cùng loài O. gratissimum nhưng chemotype estragole/camphor là Madagascan basil, sản xuất tại Madagascar.
Có các chemotype khác giàu geraniol, thymol, p-cymene, ethyl cinnamate, nhưng không được sản xuất thương mại.
The eugenol chemotype of Ocimum gratissimum, produced almost exclusively in India. A hybrid strain containing 85 – 90 percent eugenol, called clocimum oil, was developed by the Regional Research Laboratory in Jammu.
The same species in the estragole/camphor chemotype is Madagascan basil, produced in Madagascar.
Other chemotypes rich in geraniol, thymol, p-cymene, or ethyl cinnamate exist but are not produced commercially.
