Methyl salicylate chiếm 95-99 phần trăm. Methyl salicylate là salicylate ester, tương đương aspirin về hoạt tính.

ORAL CỰC KỲ NGUY HIỂM, 1 thìa cà phê (5 mL) wintergreen oil tương đương 21 viên aspirin. Đã có nhiều ca tử vong do uống nhầm.

Hấp thu dermal đáng kể, methyl salicylate xuyên qua da nhanh. Cần thận trọng với liều dermal lớn.

Tương tác thuốc với thuốc chống đông (warfarin), có thể gây xuất huyết.

Chống chỉ định với người dị ứng salicylate, trẻ em, người dùng thuốc chống đông.

Khuyến cáo dermal tối đa 2.4 phần trăm. Liều oral tối đa hàng ngày khuyến cáo 188 mg.

Phải lưu trữ ngoài tầm với trẻ em, đã có nhiều ca ngộ độc tử vong trẻ em do uống nhầm chỉ một ngụm.

Significant dermal absorption, methyl salicylate penetrates skin rapidly. Caution with large dermal doses.

Drug interactions with anticoagulants (warfarin), may cause hemorrhage.

Contraindicated in salicylate-allergic individuals, children, those on anticoagulants.

Recommended dermal maximum 2.4 percent. Recommended maximum daily oral dose 188 mg.

Must be stored out of reach of children, multiple fatal poisonings from a single sip by children.
