Terpinyl acetate, chủ yếu là đồng phân α, là cấu tử chính của cardamom và lovage leaf. Hợp chất an toàn ở nồng độ thông thường.
Trên da. Ở 5 phần trăm trên 25 tình nguyện không kích ứng và không gây mẫn cảm. Ở 10 phần trăm trộn với 15 phần trăm terpineol hỗn hợp đồng phân trên 179 bệnh nhân viêm da nghi dị ứng mỹ phẩm, không có phản ứng. Trên 100 bệnh nhân ở 5 phần trăm không phản ứng.
Đường uống. LD50 cấp tính trên chuột 5.1 g/kg, mức cao đặc trưng cho hợp chất ít độc.
Bán mãn tính. Cho chuột ăn 1.000, 2.500 hoặc 10.000 ppm trong 20 tuần không có tác dụng phụ.
Hít vào. Tiếp xúc mãn tính hơi terpinyl acetate trên động vật gây thay đổi hệ thần kinh trung ương, máu và gan. Nồng độ hoạt động tối thiểu là 10 mg/m3.
Terpinyl acetate, mainly the α isomer, is the principal constituent of cardamom and lovage leaf oils. The compound is safe at standard concentrations.
Skin. At 5 percent on 25 volunteers it was neither irritating nor sensitizing. At 10 percent mixed with 15 percent mixed isomer terpineol on 179 dermatitis patients suspected of cosmetic allergy, no reactions occurred. In 100 patients at 5 percent there were no reactions.
Oral. Acute oral LD50 in rats was 5.1 g/kg, a high value typical of low-toxicity compounds.
Subchronic. Rats fed 1,000, 2,500 or 10,000 ppm for 20 weeks showed no adverse effects.
Inhalation. Chronic terpinyl acetate vapor inhalation in animals causes changes in the central nervous system, blood and liver. The minimum active concentration is 10 mg/m3.
