Tagetes lucida là cây bản địa Mexico, dùng làm gia vị thay thế tarragon trong ẩm thực Mexico. Tên 'Mexican tarragon' phản ánh mùi gợi nhớ tarragon.
Trong văn hóa Aztec, lá khô được xay nhỏ và ném vào mặt nạn nhân trước khi hiến tế, được cho là có tác dụng làm tê liệt cảm giác.
Có báo cáo rằng lá khô hút như thuốc lá có tác dụng psychoactive nhẹ. Tuy nhiên chưa xác định được hoạt chất.

In Aztec culture, powdered dried leaves were thrown into the faces of sacrificial victims, reportedly to dull their senses.
Anecdotal reports describe a mild psychoactive effect when the dried herb is smoked. However, no specific active compound has been identified.
