Bursera graveolens là cây gỗ vùng khô bờ biển Thái Bình Dương Nam Mỹ, đặc biệt Peru, Ecuador.
Truyền thống bản địa dùng làm hương cho nghi lễ làm sạch (smudging) và lễ tâm linh. 'Palo santo' nghĩa là 'gỗ thiêng' trong tiếng Tây Ban Nha.
Tinh dầu chưng cất từ gỗ chết tự nhiên, gỗ cần phải chết và phơi tự nhiên 4-10 năm để phát triển hợp chất thơm.
Họ Burseraceae, cùng họ với frankincense, myrrh, opopanax.
Bursera graveolens is a tree from the dry Pacific coastal regions of South America, particularly Peru and Ecuador.
Indigenous traditions use it as incense for cleansing rituals (smudging) and spiritual ceremonies. 'Palo santo' means 'holy wood' in Spanish.
The essential oil is distilled from naturally fallen wood, the wood must die and weather naturally for 4-10 years to develop aromatic compounds.
