Verbenone là monoterpene ketone bicyclic, phổ biến trong rosemary chemotype verbenone. Có hai đồng phân (R)- và (S)- với hoạt tính sinh học khác nhau. (S)-Verbenone là dạng phổ biến trong tinh dầu thực vật.

Đường uống. LD50 phúc mạc trên chuột nhắt 250 mg/kg.

Tương tác thuốc. (-)-Verbenone thay đổi phân phối của kháng sinh erythromycin và ampicillin ở chuột, tăng nồng độ trong phổi, không thay đổi nồng độ gan.

Verbenone is a bicyclic monoterpene ketone, common in rosemary verbenone chemotype. Two isomers (R)- and (S)- exist with different biological activity. (S)-Verbenone is the form usually found in plant essential oils.

Oral. Intraperitoneal LD50 in mice was 250 mg/kg.

Cardiovascular. Verbenone shows strong in vitro antiplatelet activity.

Drug interactions. (-)-Verbenone alters the distribution of erythromycin and ampicillin in mice, increasing lung concentration while not altering hepatic concentration.

(-)-Verbenone được chuyển hoá thành (-)-10-hydroxyverbenone ở cả chuột và người. Ở người chủ yếu qua CYP2A6, ở chuột đực qua CYP2C11.

(-)-Verbenone is converted to (-)-10-hydroxyverbenone in both rats and humans. In humans this occurs mainly through CYP2A6, in male rats through CYP2C11.
