Hoa trắng kem, dừa non, hơi xanh, có nét hoa nhài và ngọc lan tây nhưng nhẹ hơn. Absolute ngọt và tròn; monoï có thêm nốt dầu dừa.
Creamy white flower, young coconut, a green edge, reminiscent of jasmine and ylang but lighter. The absolute is sweet and round; monoï adds a coconut-oil note.

French Polynesia
Tiaré (Gardenia taitensis) là cây bụi bản địa các đảo Thái Bình Dương, là biểu tượng của Polynésie thuộc Pháp. Hoa trắng, sáu đến tám cánh xếp như chong chóng, nở từ nụ trong một ngày.
Cách giữ hương tiaré lâu đời nhất là monoï: nụ hoa được ngâm trong dầu dừa tinh chế nhiều ngày, sau đó lọc. Monoï de Tahiti được công nhận appellation d'origine tại Pháp năm 1992, với yêu cầu về nguồn dừa và hoa từ Polynésie thuộc Pháp.
Absolute tiaré được làm bằng chiết dung môi từ hoa tươi, sản lượng rất nhỏ. Vì hoa phải chiết ngay sau khi hái và nguồn hoa giới hạn trong các đảo, nhiều sản phẩm mang tên tiaré là phối hương tổng hợp.
Absolute được làm qua hai bước. Nguyên liệu được chiết bằng dung môi không phân cực như hexane, cho ra concrete chứa sáp. Concrete sau đó được rửa bằng ethanol, làm lạnh để kết tủa sáp, lọc và cất loại cồn. Phần còn lại là absolute.
Trong perfumery, tiaré dùng cho hương hoa trắng nhiệt đới, thường phối với dừa, vanilla, hoa sứ và hoa nhài sambac. Nó cho nét kem và xanh nhẹ, khác với độ nặng của hoa huệ.
Gardenia taitensis khác với dành dành Gardenia jasminoides, loài hoa phổ biến ở Việt Nam và Trung Quốc. Dành dành jasminoides hầu như không có absolute thương mại; mùi gardenia trong nước hoa thường là tái tạo.
Tiaré (Gardenia taitensis) is a shrub native to Pacific islands and the emblem of French Polynesia. The white flowers have six to eight pinwheel petals and open from bud within a day.
The oldest way to keep tiaré scent is monoï: buds are steeped in refined coconut oil for days, then filtered. Monoï de Tahiti received an appellation d'origine in France in 1992, with requirements on coconut and flowers from French Polynesia.
Tiaré absolute is solvent-extracted from fresh flowers in very small volumes. Since flowers must be processed right after picking and supply is limited to the islands, many products named tiaré are synthetic accords.
An absolute is made in two steps. The raw material is extracted with a non-polar solvent such as hexane to give a waxy concrete. The concrete is then washed with ethanol, chilled to precipitate waxes, filtered and freed of alcohol. What remains is the absolute.
In perfumery tiaré serves tropical white florals, often with coconut, vanilla, frangipani and jasmine sambac. It brings creaminess and a light green note, unlike the weight of tuberose.
Gardenia taitensis differs from Gardenia jasminoides, the gardenia common in Vietnam and China. G. jasminoides has almost no commercial absolute; gardenia in perfume is usually a reconstruction.
