Ambergris substitute (ambergris reconstitution)

Long diên hương thay thế (bản tái tạo)

Không áp dụng (tổ hợp phân tử tổng hợp và nguyên liệu thực vật)

Ambergris reconstitution, Ambergris base, Ambergris accord, Synthetic ambergris

· Không lấy từ động vật · Not animal-derived · Compounded around ambroxide-type molecules made from sclareol or by biotechnology

Dry wood, mineral, sea salt, warm skin, a hint of tobacco. A clear resin-like amber tone and a light powder. Very long-lasting on skin and fabric.

Cảnh báo an toàn / Safety

Ambroxide and related molecules such as ambrinol and sclareolide have no dedicated IFRA standard. Sclareol, the starting material for ambroxide, is under an IFRA specification standard (2005).

EU Regulation 2023/1545 adds sclareol and tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalenes (the Iso E Super group, common in woody amber accords) to the allergens that must be labelled above 0.001 percent in leave-on or 0.01 percent in rinse-off products.

Ambroxide is crystalline; dissolve it first in ethanol or a suitable solvent. Store sealed, dry and cool.

Ambergris is a solid formed in the gut of the sperm whale, expelled into the sea and washed ashore. Fresh material smells fecal and marine; over years of sun, water and air its ambrein oxidises into odorous compounds, including ambroxide and ambrinol. Natural supply is rare, irregular and very costly.

Ambroxide was synthesised in 1950 by Max Stoll and M. Hinder at Firmenich from sclareol, a diterpene of clary sage (Salvia sclarea). Sclareol is extracted from the plant material left after distilling clary sage oil. Ambroxide is sold under several trade names such as Ambrox, Ambroxan and Ambrofix.

Some producers have developed biotechnological routes: microorganisms ferment sugar into a precursor that is then converted to ambroxide. This reduces dependence on the clary sage crop.

Ambergris reconstitutions usually centre on ambroxide, adding ambrinol for a damp animalic note, woody amber molecules, musks and plant materials such as labdanum and clary sage absolute. Proportions and components are each house's secret.

In perfumery ambroxide has become one of the most widely used base molecules, from trace to large proportions in some perfumes. It adds diffusion, tenacity and a warm skin effect.
