Menthyl acetate là ester của menthol, xuất hiện ở mức nhỏ trong tinh dầu peppermint và cornmint. Dữ liệu hiện có không cho thấy rủi ro đáng kể.
Trên da. Menthyl acetate chưa pha loãng gây kích ứng nhẹ trên da thỏ. Thử nghiệm patch ở 8 phần trăm trên 25 người tình nguyện không gây kích ứng và không gây mẫn cảm.
Độc tính cấp. LD50 cấp tính trên chuột qua đường uống vượt 5 g/kg. LD50 cấp tính qua da trên thỏ vượt 5 g/kg.
Chống oxi hoá. (-)-Menthyl acetate cho thấy hoạt tính chống oxi hoá trong microsome gan người, ức chế thuận nghịch oxi hoá nifedipine và ức chế vừa CYP3A4.
Menthyl acetate is the acetate ester of menthol, present at low levels in peppermint and cornmint oils. Available data does not indicate significant risk.
Skin. Undiluted menthyl acetate was mildly irritating to rabbit skin. An 8 percent patch test on 25 volunteers caused no irritation and no sensitization.
Acute toxicity. Acute oral LD50 in rats exceeded 5 g/kg. Acute dermal LD50 in rabbits exceeded 5 g/kg.
Antioxidant. (-)-Menthyl acetate showed antioxidant activity in human liver microsomes, reversibly inhibiting nifedipine oxidation and acting as a moderate CYP3A4 inhibitor.
