Cyperus scariosus là cây cỏ thân thảo, mọc dại tại Ấn Độ. Rễ ngầm có mùi gỗ, đất, ngọt nhẹ, đặc trưng cho perfumery oriental.
Tinh dầu chưng cất từ rễ phơi khô. Sản xuất chủ yếu Ấn Độ.
Họ Cyperaceae, cùng họ với Cyperus rotundus (nut grass).
Cyperus scariosus is a grass-like perennial growing wild in India. The rhizomes have a woody, earthy, lightly sweet aroma, distinctive for oriental perfumery.
The essential oil is distilled from dried rhizomes. Production is mainly in India.
Family Cyperaceae, same family as Cyperus rotundus (nut grass).

Trong y học Ayurveda, rễ nagarmotha (gọi là 'musta' hoặc 'mustaka') được dùng cho tiêu hóa và sốt. Tinh dầu là sản phẩm phụ.
