Javanol là một trong những phân tử đàn hương tổng hợp mạnh nhất, do Givaudan phát triển cuối thập niên 1990. Phân tử có hai vòng cyclopropane, khác hẳn khung santalol tự nhiên nhưng cho mùi rất gần.

Các đàn hương tổng hợp như Javanol ra đời trong bối cảnh gỗ đàn hương Ấn Độ (Santalum album) ngày càng khan hiếm.

Javanol is one of the most powerful synthetic sandalwood molecules, developed by Givaudan in the late 1990s. It has two cyclopropane rings, quite unlike the natural santalol skeleton, yet smells very close.

Synthetic sandalwoods such as Javanol emerged as Indian sandalwood (Santalum album) became increasingly scarce.

Javanol is used at very low levels to create a creamy sandalwood base, often combined with other synthetic sandalwoods for a complete profile.
