4-tert-Butylcyclohexyl acetate được tạo từ p-tert-butylphenol qua hydro hoá rồi ester hoá. Tỷ lệ đồng phân cis và trans quyết định mùi, nên các nhà sản xuất bán nhiều cấp khác nhau.

4-tert-Butylcyclohexyl acetate is made from p-tert-butylphenol by hydrogenation and esterification. The cis to trans isomer ratio determines the odor, so makers offer several grades.
