Isopulegol là một monoterpenoid alcohol xuất hiện ở mức thấp trong nhiều tinh dầu citrus và bạc hà.
Trên da. Bôi nguyên chất gây kích ứng nặng cho thỏ, nhưng ở 50 phần trăm trên chuột lang không gây kích ứng. Patch test ở 8 phần trăm trên 10 tình nguyện viên không gây kích ứng và ở 25 tình nguyện viên không gây mẫn cảm. Trên 30 tình nguyện viên patch test 48 giờ ở 10 và 20 phần trăm không kích ứng. Không gây độc quang ở chuột lang đến 50 phần trăm.
Đường uống. LD50 cấp tính qua đường uống trên chuột 1.03 g/kg, kèm thấp khớp, ức chế CNS và xung huyết phổi nhẹ. LD50 trên thỏ qua da khoảng 3 mL/kg.
Đột biến gen. Không gây đột biến trong các chủng Salmonella TA98, TA100, TA1525 và TA1537, có hoặc không có S9. Cũng không gây đột biến trong E. coli.
Isopulegol is a monoterpenoid alcohol occurring at low levels in many citrus and mint essential oils.
Skin. Undiluted material was severely irritating to rabbits but at 50 percent was non-irritating to guinea pigs. An 8 percent patch test on 10 volunteers caused no irritation and on 25 volunteers no sensitization. In a 48-hour closed-patch test on 30 volunteers, 10 and 20 percent produced no irritant reactions. Not phototoxic in guinea pigs up to 50 percent.
Oral. Acute oral LD50 in rats is 1.03 g/kg, with noted ataxia, CNS depression and slight pulmonary hyperemia. Acute dermal LD50 in rabbits is around 3 mL/kg.
Mutagenicity. Not mutagenic in Salmonella strains TA98, TA100, TA1525 and TA1537, with or without S9. Also not mutagenic in E. coli.
