Hydroxycitronellal được điều chế từ citronellal bằng cách hydrat hoá. Đây là một trong các nguyên liệu muguet tổng hợp lâu đời nhất và là tiền chất của Schiff base Aurantiol.

Hydroxycitronellal is made from citronellal by hydration. It is one of the oldest synthetic muguet materials and the precursor of the Schiff base Aurantiol.
