Hexadecanolide là lactone vòng 17 nguyên tử của acid 16-hydroxyhexadecanoic (acid juniperic). Tên dihydroambrettolide cho thấy nó là dạng no của ambrettolide, lactone chính trong hạt ambrette.

Hexadecanolide is the 17-membered lactone of 16-hydroxyhexadecanoic acid (juniperic acid). The name dihydroambrettolide shows that it is the saturated form of ambrettolide, the main lactone of ambrette seed.
