Guaiyl acetate được tạo bằng cách acetyl hoá guaiol hoặc tinh dầu gỗ guaiac. Sản phẩm từ tinh dầu là hỗn hợp, thường gọi là guaiacwood acetate.

Guaiyl acetate is made by acetylating guaiol or guaiacwood oil. The oil-derived product is a mixture, usually called guaiacwood acetate.

Chất này dùng làm nốt gỗ mềm, hơi khói trong hương hoa hồng, trà và da.

It is used as a soft, lightly smoky woody note in rose, tea and leather compositions.
