Ethyl maltol là đồng đẳng tổng hợp của maltol, mạnh hơn maltol nhiều lần. Chất này không được ghi nhận trong tự nhiên. Angel của Thierry Mugler (1992) thường được nhắc là nước hoa đưa hương kẹo bông vào dòng gourmand.

Ethyl maltol is a synthetic homologue of maltol and several times stronger. It has not been reported in nature. Thierry Mugler's Angel (1992) is often cited as the perfume that brought its cotton candy note into the gourmand genre.
