Tên "octine carbonate" cũng là tên gọi lịch sử không chính xác: phân tử là ester methyl của acid 2-nonynoic (chín carbon), không phải carbonate. Chất này và methyl heptine carbonate là các chất lá violet tổng hợp lâu đời.

The name "octine carbonate" is another historical misnomer: the molecule is the methyl ester of 2-nonynoic acid (nine carbons), not a carbonate. With methyl heptine carbonate it is one of the older synthetic violet leaf materials.

Trong nước hoa / In perfumery / 調香での使用

Dùng ở mức vết cho lá violet và hương xanh. EU giới hạn 0.002 phần trăm, và tổng với methyl heptine carbonate không quá 0.01 phần trăm.

Used at trace levels for violet leaf and green notes. The EU limits it to 0.002%, with a combined cap of 0.01% together with methyl heptine carbonate.
