Xanthorrhizol là phenolic sesquiterpene đặc trưng của tinh dầu nghệ dại. Là phenol thế nên có tính axit yếu và có thể ăn mòn mô. Dữ liệu trực tiếp về độc tính trên da hạn chế.
Thận. Cho chuột nhắt uống 200 mg/kg/ngày trong 4 ngày trước khi điều trị cisplatin giảm đáng kể độc tính thận do cisplatin gây ra.
Ung thư. Ức chế mạnh COX-2 và iNOS in vitro, tương quan với hoạt tính dự phòng ung thư. Hoạt động chống tăng sinh tế bào ung thư vú MCF-7 và ung thư gan HepG2 qua apoptosis. Hoạt động chống sarcoma 180 ascites ở chuột nhắt với liều 50 mg/kg. Liều 0.1 đến 1.0 mg/kg phúc mạc trong 2 tuần ức chế hình thành nốt u phổi 36 đến 63 phần trăm.
Xanthorrhizol is the phenolic sesquiterpene characteristic of wild turmeric oil. As a substituted phenol it has weak acid activity and tissue corrosive potential. Direct dermal toxicity data are limited.
Kidney. Mice given 200 mg/kg/day orally for 4 days before cisplatin treatment showed significantly attenuated cisplatin nephrotoxicity.
Cancer. Potently inhibits COX-2 and iNOS in vitro, correlating with chemopreventive activity. Active against MCF-7 breast cancer and HepG2 hepatoma cells through apoptosis induction. Active against sarcoma 180 ascites in mice at 50 mg/kg. Intraperitoneal doses of 0.1 to 1.0 mg/kg for 2 weeks inhibited lung tumor nodule formation by 36 to 63 percent.
