Iso E Super được IFF phát triển và đăng ký sáng chế đầu thập niên 1970. Sản phẩm thương mại là hỗn hợp đồng phân; đồng phân phụ có mùi mạnh nhất, đôi khi gọi là Arborone, đóng vai trò lớn trong cường độ mùi.

Iso E Super was developed and patented by IFF in the early 1970s. The commercial product is an isomer mixture; a minor isomer with the strongest odor, sometimes called Arborone, contributes much of the strength.
It became one of the most used synthetic materials in modern perfumery, with some formulas using it at tens of percent.
Iso E Super được dùng để tạo độ trong, độ toả và cảm giác gỗ mịn cho hầu hết các họ mùi. Chất này kết hợp tốt với ambroxide, hedione và musk. Tỷ lệ tối đa phụ thuộc vào tiêu chuẩn IFRA cho từng nhóm sản phẩm.
Iso E Super is used to add transparency, radiance and smooth wood to almost every fragrance family. It pairs well with ambroxide, hedione and musks. Maximum levels depend on the IFRA Standard for each product category.
