Floral Woody Fruity

Lancôme's Trésor (1990), composed by Sophia Grojsman, is often cited for this style: rose with peach and apricot on a base of sandalwood, orris and vanilla. A ripe fruit note on rose was still uncommon at the time.

In composition: peach and apricot notes usually come from gamma lactones such as undecalactone and decalactone. Damascones and damascenone, the rose ketones, give plum and baked apple facets that suit rose well. The woods can come from natural sandalwood or from molecules such as Javanol and Sandalore; cedar adds dryness.

Rules to note: rose, jasmine and ylang-ylang oils and extracts are named individually on the expanded allergen list of Regulation (EU) 2023/1545; new products placed on the EU market after 31 July 2026 must be labelled according to it. Rose ketones (the damascones) are restricted by a dedicated IFRA Standard and are on the expanded allergen list; so are Santalum album oil and santalol.

B6 sits between B9 Floral Fruity and B7 Floral Woody. When the woods weaken, the scent moves to B9; when the fruit disappears, to B7.

Natural fruit notes can come from osmanthus (lactones and ionones giving apricot), davana (dried fruit) and blackcurrant bud (green berry). Natural rose already carries a small amount of damascenone, so rose and fruit join easily.
