Hedychium coronarium is also called white ginger lily, with fragrant white flowers. The rhizome yields essential oil on distillation.
Distinct from Hedychium spicatum (ginger lily) rhizome covered in letter G, Hedychium coronarium uses the rhizome rather than flowers.
Production is limited, mainly in Madagascar and parts of Southeast Asia.
Family Zingiberaceae, same family as ginger and turmeric.
Very limited production, supply is inconsistent.
