Different from common turmeric (Curcuma longa). Aroma also differs, closer to mango.

Curcuma zedoaria is a Southeast Asian curcuma, India, Indonesia, Vietnam. In Vietnam called 'nga truat' (莪朮).
In Vietnamese and Chinese traditional medicine, nga truat is used for digestion and gynecology.
