Oxidation products of α-pinene may sensitize skin.

Store in dark, sealed, refrigerated container. Add an antioxidant to preparations containing Borneo camphor.

Botanical source

Dryobalanops aromatica is a large tree of Sumatra and the Malay peninsula. The names 'Borneo camphor' and 'Barus camphor' both reflect geographic origin.

This is one of the most ancient camphors in Asian commerce, recorded in Marco Polo's writings.

Family Dipterocarpaceae, distinct from the Lauraceae family of Cinnamomum camphora (the source of white/brown/yellow camphors).
