Spartium junceum is a Mediterranean shrub with bright yellow flowers, carrying scents of honey and mimosa.
The absolute is solvent-extracted from the flowers. This is an expensive absolute used at very low concentration in fine perfumery.
Family Fabaceae. The name 'weaver's broom' recalls the Spanish tradition of weaving the plant's fibres into rope and matting.
Unusual among absolutes, broom absolute is rich in fatty acids and their esters rather than lighter aromatic molecules.
