Zanthoxylum rhetsa is a spice plant native to India. The fruits have a characteristic citrus-spicy aroma, used as a seasoning in southern Indian cuisine.
Family Rutaceae, same family as citrus and Sichuan pepper (Zanthoxylum simulans).
Small-scale, niche production. In perfumery, mullilam contributes a distinctive spicy-citrus note.
