Lonicera periclymenum (common honeysuckle) and Lonicera caprifolium (Italian honeysuckle) are the two main species used for the absolute. The flowers carry a sweet, deep, nocturnal aroma, most intense at sunset.
The absolute is solvent-extracted from the flowers. Very limited production.
