Rhododendron anthopogon is a small shrub from the Himalayas, Nepal, Bhutan, northern India. Grows above 3,000m.
In Tibetan and Sherpa culture, the leaves are used as incense (called 'sunpati' or 'dhup'). A Buddhist tradition.
Main production: Nepal.
Family Ericaceae.
In vitro cytotoxic activity against cervical, ovarian, and colon cancer cell lines.
In niche perfumery, rhododendron is a distinctive 'mountain alpine' note.
