Piper hispidinervum is a low-growing plant from the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. Produced for natural safrole, an important supply for pharmaceutical chemistry, not for cosmetics.

Family Piperaceae, same family as black pepper.

Distinct from true long pepper (Piper longum), Piper hispidinervum is grown specifically for safrole.
