Blend recipes · Sleep

telling myself a bedtime story

4 oils · Citrus · Herbal · Woody · code BL-0108

A fresh-leaning sleep blend: lemon and sweet orange open bright, cheerfully sweet and tangy, fennel adds a slightly sweet herbal note, while cedarwood holds a wood base so the scent doesn't vanish. The scent is light and clear, perfect for anyone who doesn't like sleep blends that are too heavy. Since citrus fades fast, turn on the diffuser as soon as you lie down; no need to start it early.

How it unfolds

On opening. Lemon (fresh, bright and clean); sweet orange (ripe, sweet, cheerful and round) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

As it settles. Fennel (sweet and herbal with a little anise) forms the body of the scent and stays longest in the room.

What remains. Cedarwood (dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings) sinks in and lingers after the diffuser is off.

FAQ

How do I use telling myself a bedtime story in a diffuser?
Add Lemon 3 · Sweet Orange 2 · Cedarwood 1 · Fennel 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of lemon?
Swap lemon for bergamot or lemongrass — same citrus family. The blend will shift a little: bergamot is light citrus with a floral edge, Earl Grey style.
When is the best time to use telling myself a bedtime story?
Run the diffuser for 20–30 minutes before bed with the door closed, then switch it off or set a timer when you get into bed.
