A date with your books, a long afternoon with no one to bother you. Lavender, frankincense, and ylang ylang, five drops each, create a smooth, warm, sweet layer, four drops of bergamot add brightness, and three drops of cedarwood keep a dry wood base. Mix these twenty-two drops into a bottle and use about five each time. Great for a reading corner with a comfy chair and a warm lamp.

On opening. Bergamot (light citrus with a floral edge, Earl Grey style) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.
As it settles. Lavender (floral-herbal, clean and soothing); ylang ylang (rich, creamy, tropical and sweetly floral) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.
What remains. Frankincense (resinous with a light lemony note, deep and still); cedarwood (dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings) sink in and linger after the diffuser is off.
Bergamot can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.
Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.
