Still as a cat napping on the windowsill. Seven drops of lavender spread a soft mattress; ylang-ylang, lemon and frankincense at four drops each bring a bit of sweet yellow flower, a flash of lemon peel and a layer of warm resin, then geranium scatters green rose petals. Good for a midday nap, curtains half drawn. In a small room, half the recipe is just right.

On opening. Lemon (fresh, bright and clean) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.
As it settles. Lavender (floral-herbal, clean and soothing); ylang ylang (rich, creamy, tropical and sweetly floral); geranium (green and rosy, fresh and balanced) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.
What remains. Frankincense (resinous with a light lemony note, deep and still) sinks in and lingers after the diffuser is off.
Lemon can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.
Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.
