Friday night, the girls are at home with face masks on. Three drops of lemon are bright, two drops each of lavender and ylang-ylang add a soft layer of purple and yellow flowers, and a single drop of geranium closes with green rose. A bedroom or small living room is plenty of space for the girls. Switch it on as you start picking a movie; if you're staying up late, use less lemon so the scent softens over time.

On opening. Lemon (fresh, bright and clean) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.
As it settles. Lavender (floral-herbal, clean and soothing); ylang ylang (rich, creamy, tropical and sweetly floral); geranium (green and rosy, fresh and balanced) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.
What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.
Lemon can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.
Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.
