A brunch that stretches until noon calls for a scent with lots of layers. Lemon, ylang-ylang, peppermint, lavender and sweet orange are split evenly, with half as much patchouli: it opens fresh and cool, moves into yellow and purple florals in the middle, and ends on a warm, earthy base. A dining room or small party table at home will instantly feel cozier. This is a bottle ratio; use only 6 to 8 drops at a time.

On opening. Lemon (fresh, bright and clean); peppermint (cool, sharp and clean); sweet orange (ripe, sweet, cheerful and round) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.
As it settles. Ylang ylang (rich, creamy, tropical and sweetly floral); lavender (floral-herbal, clean and soothing) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.
What remains. Patchouli (like damp earth and dark wood, deeply sweet) sinks in and lingers after the diffuser is off.
Lemon can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.
Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.
