Neryl acetate is the dominant ester of helichrysum (immortelle), present at high levels in several chemotypes.
Skin. Undiluted neryl acetate was non-irritating to rabbit skin. A 10 percent test on 25 volunteers caused no irritation and no sensitization.
Acute toxicity. Acute oral LD50 in rats exceeded 5 g/kg. Acute dermal LD50 in rabbits exceeded 5 g/kg.

Neryl acetate is the main marker for Helichrysum italicum subsp. microphyllum oil, used to distinguish this chemotype from the original helichrysum (which contains more italidiones).
