Blend recipes · Summer fresh

wide-open night breeze

3 oils · Citrus · Floral · Minty · code BL-2997

Peppermint is cool like the night wind on a rooftop, ylang ylang spreads a sweet floral scent like a sky full of stars, and bergamot makes everything light and airy. Nice for a bedroom on summer nights or a balcony while you lie in a hammock. Switch it on when you turn off the lights and use intermittent mode; for a softer mix, reduce peppermint to three drops.

How it unfolds

On opening. Peppermint (cool, sharp and clean); bergamot (light citrus with a floral edge, Earl Grey style) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

As it settles. Ylang ylang (rich, creamy, tropical and sweetly floral) forms the body of the scent and stays longest in the room.

What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.

Method

Diffuser
Peppermint 4 · Ylang Ylang 3 · Bergamot 3 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.

Peppermint 2 · Ylang Ylang 2 · Bergamot 2 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Peppermint 12 · Ylang Ylang 9 · Bergamot 9 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

Safety

Photosensitizing

Bergamot can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.

Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.

FAQ

How do I use wide-open night breeze in a diffuser?
Add Peppermint 4 · Ylang Ylang 3 · Bergamot 3 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of peppermint?
Swap peppermint for spearmint — same minty family. The blend will shift a little: spearmint is sweet and cool, softer than peppermint, with a hint of chewing gum.
When is the best time to use wide-open night breeze?
Use it at midday, in hot rooms, or after coming in from outside; you can also mix a room spray for a quick cool-down.
