hard refresh for the brain

3 oils · Citrus · Minty · Woody · code BL-1275

Like pressing F5 on your brain. Lemon opens bright and tart, peppermint adds a cool jolt, then cypress settles in with a green, slightly resinous conifer note, like walking past a row of cypress trees. This three-layer blend suits a desk with twenty browser tabs open. For a stronger forest feel, raise the cypress to 3 drops and cut the peppermint to 1.

How it unfolds

On opening. Lemon (fresh, bright and clean); peppermint (cool, sharp and clean) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

As it settles. Cypress (fresh, dry and clean like conifer wood) forms the body of the scent and stays longest in the room.

What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.

Method

Diffuser
Lemon 3 · Peppermint 2 · Cypress 2 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller
Lemon 2 · Peppermint 1 · Cypress 1 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Lemon 13 · Peppermint 9 · Cypress 9 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

Safety

Photosensitizing

Lemon can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.

Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.

FAQ

How do I use hard refresh for the brain in a diffuser?
Add Lemon 3 · Peppermint 2 · Cypress 2 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of lemon?
Swap lemon for sweet orange or bergamot — same citrus family. The blend will shift a little: sweet orange is ripe, sweet, cheerful and round.
When is the best time to use hard refresh for the brain?
Best in the morning, early afternoon, or right after a nap; avoid using it close to bedtime.
