creative block, dissolved

4 oils · Floral · Woody · Resinous & sweet · code BL-1051

When you're out of ideas, you need an unusual scent to shake things loose. Twenty drops of patchouli lay a deep, damp-earth base, sixteen drops of ylang ylang spread rich, sweet florals, and frankincense and neroli add warm resin and delicate white blossoms. Sixty drops make a small bottle; whenever you're stuck, pour in five drops. Great for a creative studio or a drawing and writing corner.

How it unfolds

As it settles. Ylang ylang (rich, creamy, tropical and sweetly floral); neroli (white-floral, honeyed and clear) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.

What remains. Patchouli (like damp earth and dark wood, deeply sweet); frankincense (resinous with a light lemony note, deep and still) sink in and linger after the diffuser is off.

Method

Diffuser
Patchouli 3 · Ylang Ylang 2 · Frankincense 2 · Neroli 1 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller

50 ml room spray
Patchouli 10 · Ylang Ylang 8 · Frankincense 7 · Neroli 5 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

FAQ

How do I use creative block, dissolved in a diffuser?
Add Patchouli 3 · Ylang Ylang 2 · Frankincense 2 · Neroli 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of patchouli?
Swap patchouli for cedarwood or sandalwood — same woody family. The blend will shift a little: cedarwood is dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings.
When is the best time to use creative block, dissolved?
Run it at your desk or study corner in cycles of 30 minutes on, 30 minutes off, so your nose does not tune the scent out.
