β-Thujone up to 50 percent. Dangerously neurotoxic. Oral LD50 in male rats 10 mg/kg, female rats 5 mg/kg, highly toxic.

Strictly contraindicated in pregnancy, breastfeeding, children under 6, and individuals with a history of epilepsy.

Avoid oral use entirely.

Artemisia arborescens grows in the Mediterranean. A large shrub with grey-white leaves and characteristic blue chamazulene (similar to German chamomile).

Family Asteraceae.

Also rich in chamazulene like German chamomile and blue yarrow, but combined with high β-thujone, making the oil dangerous.

Very limited production. Not recommended for aromatherapy or cosmetics.
