Saigon's version of winter

3 oils · Citrus · Minty · Woody · code BL-2803

Saigon has no winter, but the last lunar month brings chilly morning breezes. Peppermint and sweet orange sit equally, cool chill meeting sweet freshness; one drop of cypress adds needles like the Christmas tree at the shopping mall. Good for air-conditioned living rooms and home offices. Best run in the morning; for a cooler scent, add 1 drop of peppermint.

How it unfolds

On opening. Peppermint (cool, sharp and clean); sweet orange (ripe, sweet, cheerful and round) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

As it settles. Cypress (fresh, dry and clean like conifer wood) forms the body of the scent and stays longest in the room.

What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.

Method

Diffuser
Peppermint 2 · Sweet Orange 2 · Cypress 1 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.

Peppermint 2 · Sweet Orange 2 · Cypress 1 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Peppermint 12 · Sweet Orange 12 · Cypress 6 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

FAQ

How do I use Saigon's version of winter in a diffuser?
Add Peppermint 2 · Sweet Orange 2 · Cypress 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of peppermint?
Swap peppermint for spearmint — same minty family. The blend will shift a little: spearmint is sweet and cool, softer than peppermint, with a hint of chewing gum.
When is the best time to use Saigon's version of winter?
Made for chilly days, cold rain, Tet (the Lunar New Year) and Christmas; use it in the living room or bedroom.
