Snacks are out, the cooler is full of ice, and all that is missing is a scent to keep mosquitoes off the table. Citronella opens bold and grassy, lemongrass and eucalyptus freshen things up, and cedarwood adds a bit of dry wood for depth. Place two diffusers at two corners of the rooftop, downwind; if the night runs late, top up the oils every 90 minutes.

On opening. Citronella (strong, green and slightly lemony); lemongrass (fresh, green and clean); eucalyptus (strong, cool and wide open) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.
What remains. Cedarwood (dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings) sinks in and lingers after the diffuser is off.
Lemongrass can irritate skin — dilute well and patch-test on a small area first.
Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.
