ice cream in cold weather

4 oils · Floral · Herbal · Minty · Warm spice · code BL-0507

Craving ice cream when it's freezing out? This scent is just as contrary. Icy peppermint and warm, spicy cinnamon show up together, cushioned in the middle by clary sage and lavender with sweet herb and purple flowers. The result is cool and warm at once, lots of fun for the nose. This is a big batch, about 5 drops of the mix each time; if the cinnamon feels sharp, lower it to four drops next time you mix.

How it unfolds

On opening. Peppermint (cool, sharp and clean) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

As it settles. Clary sage (sweet, herbal, slightly musky and unhurried); lavender (floral-herbal, clean and soothing); cinnamon (spicy-sweet, hot and warm) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.

What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.

FAQ

How do I use ice cream in cold weather in a diffuser?
Add Clary Sage 2 · Peppermint 2 · Lavender 2 · Cinnamon 2 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of clary sage?
Swap clary sage for rosemary or eucalyptus — same herbal family. The blend will shift a little: rosemary is cool, green, herbal and invigorating.
When is the best time to use ice cream in cold weather?
Use it at the end of the day, on weekends, while reading or right after a shower — whenever you want everything to slow down a beat.
