guilt-free downtime

2 oils · Citrus · Woody · code BL-0197

Cypress and bergamot split it evenly: green wood like a cypress canopy, and fresh, elegant, slightly bitter citrus. The scent is neat and airy with a nature-inspired lean, perfect for breaks that don't need a reason. This small blend suits a mini diffuser or your desk; for the living room, double it. For a warmer scent, add 1 drop of cypress, then allow yourself to lounge for half an hour.

How it unfolds

On opening. Bergamot (light citrus with a floral edge, Earl Grey style) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

As it settles. Cypress (fresh, dry and clean like conifer wood) forms the body of the scent and stays longest in the room.

What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.

Method

Diffuser
Cypress 2 · Bergamot 2 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller
Cypress 2 · Bergamot 2 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Cypress 15 · Bergamot 15 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

Safety

Photosensitizing

Bergamot can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.

Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.

FAQ

How do I use guilt-free downtime in a diffuser?
Add Cypress 2 · Bergamot 2 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of cypress?
Swap cypress for cedarwood or sandalwood — same woody family. The blend will shift a little: cedarwood is dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings.
When is the best time to use guilt-free downtime?
Use it at the end of the day, on weekends, while reading or right after a shower — whenever you want everything to slow down a beat.
