Deep, warm patchouli leads, bergamot makes the scent fresh and bright, then sandalwood, jasmine and rose close soft and luxurious. A dinner with candles, white tablecloths and a glass of red wine. Dress up a little; the scent will do the rest. Mix the sixteen drops in a roller bottle and apply before heading out; reduce the patchouli if you want a lighter scent.

On opening. Bergamot (light citrus with a floral edge, Earl Grey style) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.
As it settles. Jasmine (white-floral, sweet, heady and alluring); rose (deep, silky and luxurious) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.
What remains. Patchouli (like damp earth and dark wood, deeply sweet); sandalwood (creamy, smooth and long-lasting) sink in and linger after the diffuser is off.
Bergamot can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.
Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.
