escape the heat

4 oils · Citrus · Herbal · Minty · Woody · code BL-2873

Hiding from the sun in a room with the curtains drawn. Peppermint opens icy; patchouli and eucalyptus sit equally, damp earth meeting cool leaves like shade under a tree; a drop of lemon adds brightness. Good for the living room or bedroom at summer noon. Start the diffuser as you pull the blackout curtains; for a lighter version, cut patchouli to 1 drop.

How it unfolds

On opening. Peppermint (cool, sharp and clean); eucalyptus (strong, cool and wide open); lemon (fresh, bright and clean) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

What remains. Patchouli (like damp earth and dark wood, deeply sweet) sinks in and lingers after the diffuser is off.

Method

Diffuser
Peppermint 3 · Patchouli 2 · Eucalyptus 2 · Lemon 1 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.

50 ml room spray
Peppermint 11 · Patchouli 8 · Eucalyptus 8 · Lemon 4 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

Safety

Photosensitizing

Lemon can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.

Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.

FAQ

How do I use escape the heat in a diffuser?
Add Peppermint 3 · Patchouli 2 · Eucalyptus 2 · Lemon 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of peppermint?
Swap peppermint for spearmint — same minty family. The blend will shift a little: spearmint is sweet and cool, softer than peppermint, with a hint of chewing gum.
When is the best time to use escape the heat?
Use it at midday, in hot rooms, or after coming in from outside; you can also mix a room spray for a quick cool-down.
